Felony DUI's are prosecuted in three courtrooms at the Maywood Courthouse. Overwhelming, the vast number of DUI prosecutions consists of misdemeanor cases that are heard in various courtrooms on the first floor of the building. The Maywood Courthouse has a high volume of both DUI and general misdemeanor criminal cases from various suburbs in the northwestern portion of Cook County.

The cities and villages located in the Fourth Municipal District include Westchester, Riverside, River Forest, River Grove, North Riverside, Oak Park, Northlake, Melrose Park, LaGrange Park, Maywood, Stone Park, Hillside, Franklin Park, Forest Park, Elmwood Park, Cicero, Bellwood, Berkeley, Berwyn, Broadview, and Brookfield. Each of these municipalities has assigned court appearance dates throughout the month when the Arresting Officers are scheduled to appear for both petty offense and misdemeanor DUI cases.

Who Prosecutes DUI Cases at the Maywood Courthouse?

All of the DUI arrests made by the villages and cities listed above (as well as Illinois State Police and Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department) within the Fourth Municipal District are prosecuted by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. In contrast, there are also local prosecutors that have been hired to represent the various villages and municipalities in the Fourth Municipal District in order to prosecute various non-criminal traffic matters and ordinance violations at the Maywood Courthouse.
