DUI – Third Municipal District Courthouse – Cook County – Rolling Meadows

The Third Municipal District Courthouse (more commonly referred to as the Rolling Meadows Courthouse) is located in Northwest Suburban Cook County at 2121 Euclid Avenue. Many DUI matters are prosecuted in this courthouse on a daily basis. There are two felony courtrooms on the first floor of the building that have Felony DUI prosecutions heard daily, but the overwhelming number of DUI prosecutions consist of misdemeanor cases, which are heard in various courtrooms on the first and second floors of the building. The Rolling Meadows courthouse has a high volume of both DUI and general criminal misdemeanor cases from various suburbs in the northwestern portion of Cook County.

The cities and villages assigned to the Rolling Meadows Courthouse include Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, the southern portion of Buffalo Grove, parts of Elgin, Elk Grove Village, Rosemont, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Harwood Heights, Roselle, Barrington, Barrington Hills, Rolling Meadows, Schiller Park, South Barrington, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Mount Prospect, Streamwood, Inverness, Hoffman Estates, Norridge, and Palatine. These cities and villages have designated court appearance date(s) throughout each month, where police officers are scheduled to appear for both petty offense and misdemeanor cases such as DUI.

The State’s Attorney’s Office headed by the Cook County’s elected official, Kimberly Foxx, prosecutes the majority of DUI charges in the Third Municipal District. Barrington and Barrington Hills have hired village prosecutors to prosecute first and second offender DUI cases rather than prosecutors from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Keep in mind that every Illinois State Police DUI arrest and those DUI arrests made by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department within the Third Municipal District are prosecuted by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In addition to DUI cases, the misdemeanor courtrooms in the Rolling Meadows courthouse may also have other misdemeanor charges mixed in with DUI cases, other traffic-related matters, as well as village ordinance violations. Domestic Violence matters are heard in a separate courtroom within the building, and are the only case type heard in that particular courtroom.

The misdemeanor judges in the Rolling Meadows courthouse rotate throughout the various courtrooms in the building. The Chief Judge’s office releases the judicial assignments for courtrooms in the Third Municipal District on a monthly basis.
