How are the DUI Courtrooms Assigned at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse?

Numerous DUI cases are prosecuted at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse each day. Felony DUI charges are heard in two felony courtrooms on the first floor of the building. The majority number of DUI prosecutions consist of misdemeanor cases, which are heard daily in multiple courtrooms on the first and second floors of the building. The Rolling Meadows Courthouse has a large quantity of both DUI and general criminal misdemeanor cases from various suburbs in the northwestern portion of Cook County.

What Municipalities Have DUI Cases Heard at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse?

The cities and villages assigned to the Rolling Meadows Courthouse include Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, the southern portion of Buffalo Grove, parts of Elgin, Elk Grove Village, Rosemont, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Harwood Heights, Roselle, Barrington, Barrington Hills, Rolling Meadows, Schiller Park, South Barrington, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Mount Prospect, Streamwood, Inverness, Hoffman Estates, Norridge, and Palatine. These municipalities have specific court appearance date(s) throughout each month, where police officers are scheduled to appear for both petty offense and misdemeanor cases such as DUI.

Who Prosecutes Cases at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse?

The State’s Attorney’s Office, headed by the Cook County’s elected official, prosecutes the majority of DUI charges in the Third Municipal District. Certain municipalities including Barrington and Barrington Hills have hired local prosecutors to handle first and second offender DUI cases rather than prosecutors from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Keep in mind that every Illinois State Police DUI arrest and those DUI arrests made by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department within the Third Municipal District are prosecuted by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

What Types of Cases Aside From DUI are Heard at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse?

In addition to DUI cases, the misdemeanor courtrooms in the Rolling Meadows courthouse may also have other misdemeanor charges combined with DUI cases, other traffic-related matters, as well as village ordinance violations.
