DUI, Waukegan Courthouse Lake County

The Waukegan DUI defense attorneys at The Davis Law Group, P.C. represent clients at the Lake County Courthouse located in Waukegan, Illinois. This court location is often referred to as the Waukegan Courthouse or 19th Judicial Circuit Court. Our attorneys have decades of combined experience defending clients charged with DUI and criminal offenses at this courthouse as well as the branch courts located throughout Lake County.

All of the DUI arrests made in Lake County are prosecuted at the main criminal court complex, which is located at 18 N. County Street in Waukegan, Illinois. This includes both misdemeanor and felony driving under the influence charges for all arrests made throughout the numerous cities, villages, and municipalities in Lake County. These DUI arrests are made by the various local police departments, the Illinois State Police, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Who Prosecutes DUI Cases at the Waukegan Courthouse?

All arrests made by the Illinois State Police and Lake County Sheriff's Office are prosecuted by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. While some misdemeanor DUI cases initiated by local police departments are also handled by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, a large percentage of DUI charges are prosecuted by local village prosecutors instead of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Village prosecutors are private attorneys that are contracted by the village to prosecute misdemeanor first and second offender DUI charges (as well as other traffic infractions including ordinance violations, petty offenses, and other non-DUI related misdemeanor offenses). Your Waukegan DUI attorney should be familiar with the local attorneys and assistant state's attorneys that prosecute these cases in order to provide you with the most effective legal representation.

I am very grateful for your work and representation. Although it is difficult for me to truly express my gratitude through e-mail, I hope you can still understand how thankful I am that we were able to dismiss my case on the first court date. I am very pleased with the outcome. Again, thank you very much for your time. Please enjoy the rest of your week. D.K.
